What does a comedian have in common with a ninja warrior? A perfectly honed body? Fleet footed round house kicking ability? A penchant for wearing black? Find out this summer when RANDOM ACTS COMEDY TROUPE unveils the first show in their new SECOND ACT SERIES, “9 DEATHS OF THE NINJA!”. RANDOM ACTS, a Richmond based comedy troupe since 2001, will transform their stage into a deadly martial arts training center in a ninja-themed comedy improv smack down: a comedy show unlike any other in the area. Random Acts celebrates the launch of “9 Deaths of the Ninja!”, as well as the launch of their Second Act Series, with its Grand Opening Show at 10:00 pm on Friday, June 6th, 2008.

Random Act’s Artistic Director, Scott D. Foard, explained the significance of the occasion: “For the past 6 years Random Acts has produced energetic, 120 minute improv shows; still, we never pretended to be anything other than what we were: a bunch of guys performing improv comedy. The Second Act Series, starting with ‘9 Deaths of the Ninja!’, will take us in the direction of a show that is more thematic and character driven. It is really exciting, and I think the fans will be pleased.”

Any fans lamenting the end of the old shouldn’t worry: Random Acts has revamped their show format by producing 2 shows each night instead of one. Their typical main stage show kicks off the night for a fast 45 minute set. After a short intermission “9 Deaths of the Ninja!” will close it out.

Random Acts hasn’t released what other shows will fill out the Second Act Series, but their inaugural show is slated to run through the summer at ComedySportz Improv Theater, located at 7115 Staples Mills Road.

Random Acts takes the stage every first and third Friday at 10:00 pm .

Featuring Richmond’s most talented cast, Random Acts performs sketches, parodies, musical numbers, and improvised scenes, including everything from “Whose Line is it Anyway”. Random Acts bases their show on audience suggestions, featuring many numbers that will put the audience members right on the stage!
